O U R K I D S T O P 5 F A V S !!
With Having my own 4 kids, being Aunty to 32 and Heather having her two cuties we have literally explored the entire New England Area in search of fun family Adventures!
Our lists are forever growing and changing as businesses come and go with time and new state parks and hiking areas emerge from our friends and families recommended spots. We proudly share with you our Top 10 FAV Local Spots!!
Ice Cream, Ice Cream we ALL Shout for Ice Cream!
Holy Cow is our ALL time favorite summer spot for ice cream! Located in Charlestown, RI it truly is a heavenly experience! I’m partial to a Vanilla Milkshake with real caramel swirled in there! However they offer everything and the kitchen sink for flavors! Take a drive and enjoy!! www.HolyCowRI.com
Candy Shop with Lollipops!
Hack n Livery – OMG! Do you love the old fashion Country Store with a candy counter that makes you revert to a lil kid and get all… “I don’t know what I want but I want one of EVERYTHING???” Yea, well this is the place for you and YOUR kids! Located right in the village of Hope Valley this store carries way more than just candy. Clothing, Yankee Candles, Canned Goods, Small Toys, Christmas and Holiday decorations and decor are just some of the things you will find there! Go take a peak and get yourself a bag of candy!
Camping Spots, Tents or RVS:
Burlingame State Park – This place wins with my four kids time and time again. Its minimal camping experience brings you back to when you didn’t need to have planned activities, pools in 7 seven styles and pay $300 per night to go Glamping. Burlingame is for simple minded families who enjoy the basic living. Watchaug Pond beach is located within the park for swimming, Kayaking, fishing and motorized boating. You can rent boats, canoes and Kayaks at the very unique and well stocked General Store. There are shore side cabins and Basic Campsites that accommodate all sized RVs and trailers however you can put a tent or three on any site. We LOVE rustic camping so this is the spot for us! Grab a visitor pass for $5 (or so) and take a drive through to see if its right for you!
Wawaloam Campground – Ohhh this is a fun one. This is our favorite Glamping Spot. Water slides ($$), Huge Pool, Planned Activities (Kids and Adults), Splash Pad for Toddlers, Very nice and well groomed sites with full hookups and delicious snack bar. All these things you will find within the campground. They also provide entertainment specials on holiday weekends throughout the summer months, which we always enjoy. The camp store is slightly outside the campground located next to the camping office. It has a small ice cream stand which is usually pretty good. The store itself is well stocked for last minute things you forgot and don’t want to drive the 30 mins to a real store to get! We have a ton of fun here every year!
Farm & Sugar House –
Spring Hill Sugar House wins for so many reasons! Lets just say these Farmers know how to grow! No matter the season there is always something fantastic to share with the kids at Spring Hill Farm. Gibby is the owner and one heck of a guy! He loves his farm more than anyone I know! Him and his family work hard to share with you all the New England traditional farming experiences!
They start the year with the Sugar House boiling away. OH MAN that smell! As a Vermont raised and grown girl it just takes me back to riding on the back of the tractor collecting sap, in snow up to my knees on the coldest day of the year! (enough about me LOL) Sugaring is something you really should see and experience with all your senses for yourself.
Farm Fest is celebrated at Spring Hill farm. Each year many farmers bring their special equipment and skills to Farm Fest to share with you. Very cool day of tractors and demonstrations.
Fall is the time to run through their gorgeous pumpkin patch full of perfect pumpkins. Literally takes us hours to pick 6 pumpkins out! Corn maze and all kinds of delicious squash, cider from the cider press!, and fall decorations!
SOOO many amazing things to do here all year!
